It’s almost here.. time to build on last years super popular hill climb series, complete with sponsor Arrowsmith Bikes who have stepped up to help out. All races are at 630pm, all have pre reg links. A start list will be posted at 430pm each race day, any who just show up go to the back, no questions asked. Arrowsmith Bikes has stepped up to sponsor the Hill Climb Series in 2016. The hill climbs saw serious growth in 2015 with an average of 23 riders a night coming out, up from 7 the year before. The series is 5 hill climbs running August 4th until September 1st, held every Thursday night @ 630. BC Masters/MIVA Hill Climb Recap

(by David Steen) MIVA joined BC Masters Cycling Association for the first time to stage the successful double hill climb in Mill Bay and South Shawnigan last Saturday. MIVA’s Cheryl Morch, Dave Steen and Glenda Harling helped manage the annual events. Results available at The first climb takes 2 to 4 minutes and the second, at 9 km held 2 hours later, takes more than 20 minutes to complete. A total of 29 climbers took part in the two events combined, well done to all and thank you to the organizer for their hard work!

Super Duper Hill Climb Recap The idea was simple, ride all of the MIVA hill climbs in one go. Basically up every big hill in Nanaimo and regroup at Whitesails brewing afterwards for food, beer and stories. 61km and 1200m of climbing in one shot. MIVA Races & Disc Brakes

MIVA, With Cycling Canada’s and the UCI’s recent ruling on disc brakes, MIVA has been in back and forth discussion with CyclingBC to clarify how this affects our TT, Hill Climb, and Crit Series. From June 13th onward disc brakes will not be permitted in any Time Trials, Crits, or Hill Climbs. For group rides and club rides disc brakes will not be recommended, but will be allowed. MIVA’s Second Annual Mount Washington Hill Climb and Social! BC Masters/MIVA Dual Hill Climb – Sat May 7

Reminder for climbers. MIVA is partnering with the BC Masters Cycling Association to host the annual dual hill climbs Saturday. The first time trial is a short, steep climb in Mill Bay at noon; the second, a 9 km climb inSouth Shawnigan at 2 p.m. Medals are awarded for each 5-year category for riders 30 and older. The Masters welcomes women and men of all  experience levels to its road races, time trials and hill climbs, several held on Vancouver Island. You don’t have to join the Masters to take part. Sunday May 8 This year we’re building on the success of our Arrowsmith Bikes Hill Climb series and our incredibly successful Spring 50/100km challenge to offer something new and exciting.
