MIVA/RCC 20K TT Results

Written By on May 25, 2018

MIVA held the 2nd  interclub challenge last night and it was epic!  Weather was near perfect for the 20K event on Nanaimo River Road.  However sometimes stuff (shit) just happens and you do your best to deal with it.  Our timing system had a glitch last night so we could not give any results after the race.  😞  But have no fear Patrick had done some major sleuthing in strava and other methods to tabulate the results of lastnight.  Thanks Patrick!   For the men PB’s all around – James Sage rocked the 20K in 28:22 followed quickly by Sean? Coal City Crit #5

Written By on May 23, 2018

A hot Tuesday evening following a long weekend.  I wasn’t really expecting much of a turnout.  I was pleasantly surprised when we had 16 riders show up to race.  The bunch was made up of mostly our core racers.  Everyone knew everyone else and that made this one of the most interesting and exciting races to watch so far. The race was set at 35 laps with one prime and after two neutral laps to help ease Brodie back into racing the pace picked up sharply.  On Lap 5 Lee who was out with a plan for a solid workout? Fast and Punchy

17 riders hit the course tonight for 35 laps of fun.  The attacks were steady right from the beginning with Janna and Lazarus stretching the pack out as soon as the first two neutral laps were done.  From there on out the pace was fast with almost every rider attacking at one point or another.  Four laps in MIVA regular Iain Hay rolled up to the finish line with a puncture, fortunately Shep had a tube and was able to get him back up and running in only two and a half laps. On the 15th lap the horn? Read More

Grafton Road is NOT Flat!

Written By on May 10, 2018

There was a general consensus after tonights MIVA/Rock City Cycles 15K TT, held out in Errington and that was, “Grafton Road is not FLAT!!” The slight difference in grade didn’t let up for any type of reprieve, for the climbers they wished for more climbing and for the power crew they wished for more downhills. Teamed up with the Arrowsmith Bike Club, MIVA hosted the first interclub challenge at the new venue.  The excitement was in the air as teams for the challenge were formed.  A total of 28 racers battled the headwind out to the turnaround.  Coming back the pace was? And the Rain Held Off

Written By on May 9, 2018

The skies were threatening tonight but the rain held off for the third Coal City Crit. The pace was quick and the pack was smooth. There was some great team work by Riverway Dental Racing when Kevin Park went on a flyer at lap 15, the bell rung for the prime on lap 16 and the pack let him go take it. But when it came down to the line Kevin still took the win of the night. It was a photo finish, that you can see HERE. Ian Hay was just a half a wheel behind that gave him? Read More

Smooth Ride with Some Attacks.

Written By on May 1, 2018

The second Coal City Crit finished with all the rubber side down. There was some smooth riding tonight. 30 was the magic number for laps. One neutral lap to start and then it was game time. Lap 11 the bell was rung for a prime which was taken by Kevin Park, followed by James Sage for second and Chris Cameron for third. Immediately after the prime, Sean Lunny and John Lam attacked to try and form a breakaway, but where pulled back in over the next lap. Lap 20 Kevin Park made and attack but was also pulled back in.? The Coal City Criterium Series was off to a fast start tonight on Boxwood.  A shout out to our vollies who pulled through and swept up the corners for all of the riders; Peter, Lorrie, Janine, Graeme and Antonious.  Volunteers make these events happen, thank you. With 19 riders out on the course and some strong winds, the word is that this was one of the fastest opening races we’ve had.  Kudo’s to the newbies on the course tonight, Stephan Mohan, Eric Rush, Kiyomi Schulz and Jesse Manor.
