MIVA CycloCross this week

Monday Cross Ride – from the NIC at 6pm. All levels accomodated. A cross bike is needed. Thursday Cross Practice – in Bowen Park with Carey Mark leading the way. Skills and drills to help you get on and off your bike faster and go faster in between. Meet near the Wahl Street entrance. It’s fun, come try it out! Wednesdays – Rock City Cycles hosts a ride from the shop at 6:15.

Wow, where did the summer go?! This brings us to the last Monday Group ride on August 28. We will NOT START AT the NIC. But instead we will start (6:00pm) and end at one of our great sponsors, White Sails Brewery. This is a good opportunity for a bit of a different ride and a chance to chat and swap cycling stories. Mid Summer Cross Race is filling up

It’s limited to 55 in each category (A and B) so don’t miss out, sign up! Hosted by Cross On The Rock and MIVA, held at Diver Lake on Wednesday August 9th. Two categories: The B’s start at 6:15 (beginner, intermediate) And the A’s at 7:15. (Fast intermediates top 15, experts, advanced) no sandbagging. Ride Don’t Hide – Mental Health Awareness

Please read about/support this great event to help raise awareness of mental health. Ride Don’t Hide, a community bike ride to create awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental illness, raises funds to support mental health education and services in the mid island area. On Sunday, June 25, across Canada 10,000 cyclists, in 31 communities (including Nanaimo) are expected to ride. In Nanaimo accommodates riders of all ages and abilities with two different rides to choose from 16.5 km and 52.3km. The 16.5-km event is great for families and individuals and the 52.3-km event is for more experienced riders.? Read More

Cowichan Populaire 50 / 100 / 160 – June 3

This Saturday is a great opportunity to ride the Cowichan Populaire put on by the BC Randonneurs. You can choose one of three distances – 50k or 100k or 160k! Sign up here. This will also be the first ride for our newly formed “MIVA Women’s 100” group which is training to do a 100k event on July 23. Yes it is finally summer! Monday Development Ride – roll out of the NIC @6pm – we have 3 groups ranging from about 24kmh and up. Come ride with a great group of people and improve your fitness and skills. Tuesday Crit Race – If you want to improve your speed and endurance why not try a Crit race.
